As you probably know, with Windows 7 Microsoft has decided to fundamentally change its approach to developing a new product. Millions of people and testers participated in the development of the Seven.
Naturally, communications had to reflect this change in attitude. We put communications into the hands of the users; people could read blogs, posts, reviews and see screenshots of Windows 7 way before it was released for distribution. The goal of the agency was to tell the story behind this big change taking place at Microsoft. The strategy was openness, transparency and dialogue with a focus on the user as the creator of Windows 7.
we needed to get the less technically literate involved in this story so we approached the most famous Slovakian fashion designer Fero Mikloško and asked him to design seven exclusive bags for notebooks running on Windows 7. Our goal was to explain to ordinary people that a computer also means the software behind it, while this particular piece of software – Windows 7 – simply works. During one month of Windows 7’s communication, we succeeded in generating 107 media outputs in the total media with a value of €200,000, of which up to 30 outputs were in traditional media that doesn’t generally pay attention to new software products. During the first month, the sales of Windows 7 in Slovakia exceeded five times the sales of Windows Vista over the same period after the launch.
